About an hour’s drive north of Cusco, Peru, salt has been harvested for centuries by creating pools along the mountainside to capture spring water; the pools are then dammed to allow the water to evaporate, creating salt crystals. Not only are the salt pans an intriguing site, you can acquire bodyguards  scrubs and other items in shops nearby.
